For Muslim residents in the Ixelles commune of Brussels and surrounding regions in Belgium, physical mosques such as Mosquée d'Ixelles represent vital community landmarks. However, when it comes to structured weekday Quran classes for children, many parents face full capacity waitlists, transit congestion, and scheduling conflicts.
1. The Challenges of Physical Weekend Madrassas
While physical mosques foster essential communal prayers, traditional weekend schools often encounter hurdles:
- Large Student-to-Teacher Ratios: In a class of 25 students, each child may only read for 2 minutes to the teacher.
- Rigid Timetables: Fixed weekend morning slots clash with school sports and family commitments.
- Limited Shia Ja'fari Specialization: Finding teachers who teach according to Ja'fari jurisprudence and Ahlulbayt tradition is exceptionally rare in many European municipalities.
